Dear Friends,
How are you feeling as reverberations continue in the wake of the election?
At CLUE we’ve been using Waging Nonviolence’s excellent advice to ground and prepare for what comes next. Author Daniel Hunter talks about emerging pathways to effectively resist the new administration.
Given our mission of working in solidarity with low-wage workers, immigrants, and communities of color in the cause of dignity and economic justice, our path is clear. I want to share just some of what we’ve been up to over the past month.
And I invite you to join us.
Protect Targeted People.
The first day that the immigrants rights coalition turned out to resist the incoming administration, CLUE members showed up in force, amplifying the call for Sanctuary for more than a million undocumented immigrants in Los Angeles and Orange counties.

The next day, CLUE was back with leaders of BIPOC and immigrant communities calling on the LA City Council to pass a sanctuary ordinance.
When undocumented immigrants make up nearly one in 10 Californians, the impact of mass deportation on families and communities will be devastating. We cannot let that happen.

The first weekend after the election, CLUE hosted Grief and Action, which provided the opportunity for nearly 100 CLUE members and friends to process what had just happened and prepare for what is coming.
We listened to impacted people, like our own Sithy Bin (CLUE’s faith-rooted organizer at risk of deportation), who shared the impact that the new administration may have on him. We made our grief visible in building a monument of stones that can be rebuilt wherever we need to call attention to all we have lost at this time.
In the days since, people like you have been called on to join our vulnerable neighbors. You have amplified the voices calling for sanctuary. And sacred solidarity has prevailed. This Tuesday, the LA City Council moved forward in declaring Los Angeles a sanctuary city.
Center the Perspectives of Impacted People.
Central to the idea of sacred solidarity is listening to impacted people, hearing their cries for justice, and supporting them in advancing their cause. We’ve been listening at rallies, listening at vigils, and next we listen at Immigration Solidarity community gatherings across Los Angeles, Orange County, and the Inland Empire.
Please join us.

Reunite the Mosawi Family
Finally, I want to share the news that there’s just $3,000 to raise in order to reunite the Mosawi family. Your donation of $50, $100, $500 or more could offer a wonderful gift in time for the holidays. It’s been just over a year that CLUE has been sharing their story. What a holiday blessing for them to hear they will be reunited.
The years ahead will be hard. The organized, connected, interfaith movement for justice will stand strong in the fight. But we need your help to get there.
Please make a generous gift today so that faith communities of all kinds can continue to protect targeted people in the days to come.
Solidarity With Immigrant Siblings is Sacred
Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice educates, organizes, and mobilizes religious leaders and community members to walk with our immigrant siblings promoting dignity and respect for every one regardless of documentation status.
We can stand with them, because people like you support an organized and connected interfaith movement for a more just and sacred society.
Support CLUE’s immigration program today and extend an embrace of welcome.
