May 2024 – Sacred Solidarity Scoreboard in the Hospitality Workers Campaign

,

Since Spring of 2023, faith leaders and community members have been accompanying hospitality workers across Southern California in their struggle to be able to live where they work and to help build healthier communities for all of us.

As we move through May 2024, we want to share some great news and the continued struggle.

See our April Scoreboard for previous victories!

May Day Parade

CLUE was honored to join unions, immigration justice advocates, and community from across LA for the annual May Day march in Los Angeles! Celebrating the incredible accomplishments of last year’s Summer of Solidarity including the Hollywood strikes, we came together to continue fighting for worker justice, housing and citizenship for all, and peace!

Before the march, we picketed with the courageous striking UNITE HERE Local 11 workers of the W Hollywood hotel, and Reverend Yoshi Kuramoto of San Pedro United Methodist Church offered a moving opening blessing!

Pasadena City Council Meeting

On May 20, we joined UNITE HERE Local 11, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights and a coalition of workers, racial justice advocates and others in calling on the Pasadena City Council to direct the police to stop enforcing the unconstitutional provisions of city’s noise ordinance, and make amendments to rescind them. We also demanded that the criminal citations and charges against workers and organizers be dropped immediately!

Victories #41-46!

As of May 30, more hotels from across SoCal have settled – Doubletree Downtown LA, Sheraton Park Anaheim, Holiday Inn LAX, Hilton Pasadena, Hilton Peak PHX, Aloft El Segundo, Fairfield Inn and Suites.
