God’s Love Knows No Borders: March For Immigrant Dignity

A thank you and three ways to become a part of the Immigrant Rights movement in Southern California

On March 1st, we witnessed a beautiful show of solidarity for immigrant rights, as more than 1000 people of faith, community organizers, immigrants and allies marched in the center of Downtown Los Angeles, armed with flags, banners, and signs proclaiming the worth and dignity of everyone in our community. We sent a strong message to both city leaders and federal officials that Los Angeles is organized and we will defend the rights of our immigrant neighbors.

As we continue to mobilize and organize, here are three tangible ways you can tap into our work in support of immigrant rights. Read on below to learn more, and remember – our strongest line of defense against oppression is our community relationships. Caring for one another makes our communities more resilient in trying times, like those in which we are living in today.

LA Rapid Response Network If you see ICE Activity anywhere you go, you can report it to the Rapid Response hotlines in your area. • Los Angeles: 888-624-4752• Orange County: 714-881-1558• San Bernardino/Riverside: 909-361-4588• Kern County: 661-432-2230• Central Valley: 559-206-0151 CLUE is working with RRN partners to offer ongoing training for faith leaders and community members who want to show up for workers and families being targeted by ICE.

If you want to be trained to be a rapid responder and you live in Orange County, LA or the Inland Empire, contact Guillermo Torres, [email protected].

CLUE Welcome Network  CLUE is cultivating its vast network of houses of worship to create a network of congregations that provide respite, and even longer-term shelter, to migrants released into Southern California.

Over 30 congregations are already participating in the CLUE Welcome Network that houses asylum seekers and refugees. We receive referrals from CHIRLA for asylum seekers in need of shelter, from legal service providers that are seeking sponsors for people being released from detention, or direct walk-ins.  Some congregations in the network provide temporary shelter or short-term housing, and others support those efforts with gifts of supplies, transportation, etc.

Shut Down Adelanto Coalition
The Shut Down Adelanto Coalition is a collective of over twenty organizations, including CLUE,  who have been working together since 2019 with the goal of achieving the just closure of the Adelanto ICE Jail. All organizations organize within the scope of immigrant justice but through different lenses, whether that is environmental, worker rights, or policy.
